Pipeline Integrity Management Program Support

With the advance of pipeline integrity management programs, the frequency of required inspections on pipelines across the country is increasing.   Ensuring pipeline assets are maintained in safe and reliable condition is a requirement of the Pipeline Act of 2002.

Demagnetizing Solutions can be a resource to any Pipeline Integrity Management Program to ensure that pipeline assets are maintained in a safe and reliable condition.

As part of Pipeline Integrity Management programs, internal inspections have become more frequent.  The increased use of magnetic flux inspection tools (PIGs)  subjects the pipeline walls to a magnetic field.

When a section is deemed necessary for replacement, the magnetic field that remains from the PIG will affect the weld. Due to the pipeline magnetism, welding can become difficult and slow, which often leads to failed x-ray inspections and delays, or welding could be impossible, which would result in major delays.  The pipeline needs to be demagnetized before welding can be performed successfully.

Demagnetizing Solutions can help overcome the issues of pipeline magnetism and prevent costly delays.
