Eliminating arc blow
Magnetic Arc Blow can cause welding to be impossible. When residual magnetism exists in the pipes, it causes the current to be directed away from the weld, the weld material sputters and the joint can’t be welded.
Reducing porosity
Due to the sputtering of the weld material in the magnetic joint, incomplete fusion of the metal occurs. This leads to porous welds which leads to a loss of weld quality. The porosity can be noticed by inspectors and through weld x-rays.
